When you select documents or clusters in the Map, the selected documents appear in the Working list in the List pane. If you select a cluster, by default, documents appear in cluster order. That is, the key document appears before other documents in the cluster. As you select additional clusters and documents, the application adds them to the Working list. The total number of documents in the list and the number of selected documents appear on the Documents page toolbar.
In the Working list, you can perform the same coding and viewing tasks as you can in the List pane. For information about viewing documents, see Review documents in the View pane. For information about coding documents, see Code documents.
Note: The List view displays all documents in the set, and shows the documents in the Working list as selected documents.
Selecting a document to display is independent of selecting documents for action. That is, the triangle may appear next to a document but that document may not have its check box selected.
When you open the Working list, all documents are selected by default.
You can select documents in the following ways:
●Select for action: When you select the check boxes next to documents in the Working list or click documents in the Map, you can code multiple documents. The document clusters are highlighted in the Map, so you can see which clusters the documents are in.
●Select for display: When you click a document title, that document becomes the active document. The active document is indicated by a triangle in the row for the document. In the Map, a triangle appears in the document dot. Depending on your workspace, the document appears in the View pane and the Code pane. Only the active document appears in the View pane. The active document may or may not be a document selected for action.
●Select all: When you select the check box at the top of the Working list, all documents in the Working list are selected, including documents that appear on different Map pages.
When you click a document in the Working list, the document appears in the View pane. A triangle appears next to the document indicating that it is the active document. The triangle also appears in the document dot in the Map. The document ID appears on the Documents page toolbar.
You can view documents in the following ways:
●Click the document title: The row is highlighted, a triangle appears in the left column, and the document appears in the View pane.
●Click the Options menu: The Options menu appears when you hover over the row for a document. On the Options menu, you can select from the following:
oSelect thread: When documents are threaded, selects all documents in that thread. For more information about email threading, see Review threaded documents. This option appears only for threaded documents.
oOpen as linked workspace: Opens the document in a separate window that remains linked to the Working list. Select the workspace that you want to open on the menu. You can navigate through and view the documents in the Working list using the arrows at the top of either workspace. When you select a document in one workspace, the selected document becomes the active document in both workspaces.
oOpen as standalone: Opens the document in a separate window that has no link to the Working list. Select the workspace that you want to open on the menu. A standalone workspace allows you to display one document while you navigate through and view other documents on the Documents page.
oCopy link: Copies the web addresses for the selected documents. If you select more than 50,000 documents, the application copies the links for the first 50,000 documents.
oFind similar: Searches for other documents that are similar to the selected document, and displays only those documents in the Map and in the Working list. Similar documents must share at least 70% of the same concepts.
