You can review native files directly in Ringtail using Microsoft Office Online, without having to download documents to your computer.
In the Office Online viewer, you can perform the following tasks:
●Search for content
●See formulas, resize columns, and display hidden worksheets, rows, and columns in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet
●View comments in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint
●View slide notes, slide thumbnails, and hidden slides in a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation
●Use standard Microsoft Office features to review content
●View native files that were created in applications other than Microsoft Office
●Watch video files and listen to audio files
Note: The specific Office Online features that are available depend on your organization's license with Microsoft and the portal options that are configured by your administrator.
Your administrator must enable this feature. The permissions set by your administrator determine access to this feature.
The following file types are supported: .123, .bmp, .csv, .doc, .docm, .docx, .dot, .dotm, .dotx, .dwg (2004), .dxf, .eml, .gif, .html, .jpg, .mht, .mhtml, .mpp, .msg, .odp, .ods, .odt, .one, .onetoc2, .ott, PDF, .png, .pot, .potm, .pps, .ppsm, .ppsx, .ppt, .pptx, .rtf, .tiff, .txt, .vsd, .xls, .xlsb, .xlsm, .xlsx, and .xml.
Note: Ringtail converts some file types to PDF and displays them in the Office Online viewer. If a file type is not supported, Ringtail prompts you to download the file. You can then open the document with the relevant application on your computer.
Use the following procedure to view native files in the Office Online viewer.
1.Select a document.
2.In the View pane, click the Office Online viewer button.
3.Use the standard features in Microsoft Office to review content.
For information about how to work with Office Online, see the Microsoft documentation.
Note: Depending on the portal configuration, you may be able to edit documents temporarily, such as adding temporary highlights. Ringtail does not save any edits that you make in the Office Online viewer. For information about how to add highlights, redactions, and notes to documents, see Annotate documents.
