Concept analysis identifies concepts in documents after running the indexing and enrichment job. Concepts are nouns or noun phrases that describe a document, such as names, places, organizations, themes, and so on.
Use the following pages to set up concept analysis jobs for cases:
Note: These settings apply at the case level.
Use the following procedure to manage concept analysis options for a case.
1.On the Portal Home page, under Portal Management, click Cases and Servers.
2.On the Cases page, click the name of the case that you want to set concept analysis options for. For portal administrators, when organization security is enabled, the list of available items depends on membership in a provider or client organization. To understand how organizations are managed in Ringtail, see Organizations. For a summary of how organization security affects portal access for each Ringtail user category, see Portal security table.
3.In the navigation pane, click Analysis: Options.
4.Select the Subject or file name field that best describes documents in this case, and therefore becomes the most important concept. For example, the Title field is usually the best descriptor of the content of a document.
5.To extract concepts from non-English documents, or documents that contain non-English characters, select Enable language analysis.
6.Click Save.
Noise words are common words that are not useful when analyzing document concepts, such as and, the, or about. Ringtail ignores noise words when analyzing document concepts. If you enable language analysis, you can also add or remove noise words in other languages.
Use the following procedure to view the existing noise words.
1.On the Portal Home page, under Portal Management, click Cases and Servers.
2.On the Cases page, click the name of the case whose noise words you want to view. For portal administrators, when organization security is enabled, the list of available items depends on membership in a provider or client organization. To understand how organizations are managed in Ringtail, see Organizations. 3.In the navigation pane, click Analysis: Noise Words.
4.In the language list, select the language of the noise words that you want to view.
Use the following procedure to add noise words to a case.
1.On the Portal Home page, under Portal Management, click Cases and Servers.
2.On the Cases page, click the name of the case that you want to add noise words to. For portal administrators, when organization security is enabled, the list of available items depends on membership in a provider or client organization. To understand how organizations are managed in Ringtail, see Organizations. For a summary of how organization security affects portal access for each Ringtail user category, see Portal security table.
3.In the navigation pane, click Analysis: Noise Words.
4.In the language list, select the language.
5.Click Add.
6.In the Name box, type the new noise word.
7.Click Save.
Note: After adding noise words, you must run an indexing and enrichment job. For information about how to run an indexing and enrichment job, see Work with jobs.
Use the following procedure to delete noise words from a case.
1.On the Portal Home page, under Portal Management, click Cases and Servers.
2.On the Cases page, click the name of the case whose noise words you want to delete. For portal administrators, when organization security is enabled, the list of available items depends on membership in a provider or client organization. To understand how organizations are managed in Ringtail, see Organizations. For a summary of how organization security affects portal access for each Ringtail user category, see Portal security table.
3.In the navigation pane, click Analysis: Noise Words.
4.In the language list, select the language.
5.Select the check box next to the noise words that you want to delete.
6.Click Delete. In the confirmation message, click OK.
Note: After deleting noise words, you must run an indexing and enrichment job. For information about how to run an indexing and enrichment job, see Work with jobs.
By default, Ringtail excludes the following words from concept analysis, in addition to noise words:
●Two-character words, such as if, to, and be.
●Words that start with a number, for example, 1company.
●Words with special or foreign characters, such as *&%^$#@.
To include words that otherwise would be excluded from concept analysis, you add words to the list of inclusion terms.
Use the following procedure to view the existing inclusion terms.
1.On the Portal Home page, under Portal Management, click Cases and Servers.
2.On the Cases page, click the name of the case whose inclusion terms you want to view. For portal administrators, when organization security is enabled, the list of available items depends on membership in a provider or client organization. 3.In the navigation pane, click Analysis: Inclusion Terms.
Use the following procedure to add inclusion terms to a case.
1.On the Portal Home page, under Portal Management, click Cases and Servers.
2.On the Cases page, click the name of the case that you want to add inclusion terms to. For portal administrators, when organization security is enabled, the list of available items depends on membership in a provider or client organization. To understand how organizations are managed in Ringtail, see Organizations. 3.In the navigation pane, click Analysis: Inclusion Terms.
4.Click Add.
5.In the Name box, type the new inclusion term.
6.Click Save.

Use the following procedure to delete inclusion terms from a case.
1.On the Portal Home page, under Portal Management, click Cases and Servers.
