To organize documents into threads, you must submit the documents for thread analysis.
The following file types are supported for thread analysis: .msg, .mht, .mhtml, .eml, and .txt.
Thread analysis sorts all submitted documents, but organizes only the documents that share the same subject into threads. Thread analysis also creates document batches, with each batch containing up to 10,000 thread-complete documents. In a thread-complete batch of documents, no threads are split between batches.
Note: If another thread analysis job or a deletion job is processing, wait until the job is finished before you submit additional documents for thread analysis.
Use the following procedure to submit documents for thread analysis.
1.Perform a search for documents.
For information about how to search for documents, see Search for documents.
2.In the List pane, select the check box next to the documents that you want to add to thread analysis.
3.On the Tools menu, select Thread analysis.
4.Select Add to thread analysis.
A pre-analysis summary appears in the Thread Analysis dialog box.
Optionally, to see more information about the documents that could be excluded from thread analysis, click View Details.
5.Click OK.
For information about how to access threaded documents, see Search for threaded documents.
